Sohail Rahman was born in Chester, Cheshire the United Kingdom. Also known in the TV Industry as So Rahman, Studied at the University of Westminister in London and graduated with a B.A. Honours Degree in Photography, Film, and Video in 1991. He also has a BTEC National Diploma in Audio Visual studies gained from N.E.W.I. in Wrexham, North Wales as well as A and O level passes at Kingsway High School, Chester. Sohail has enjoyed academic success at all levels.
He has also completed the nationally recognised BTEC Professional Certificate in Management Studies 2000 through ITV Granada Television and Manchester Open Learning.
A keen basketball player he has represented Chester at school boy level, he is a keen tennis player and frequent visitor to the gym.
Sohail loves to travel and has toured Europe extensively along with Bangladesh, India, Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and USA . He speaks five Indian languages along with French and a little German.

Awards

Sohail has won many awards the most recent was the Royal Television Society North West Awards 2003 as Best Television Presenter in November 2003 for his work on the regional news programme 'Granada Reports' and crime solving programme 'Crimefile'.

Sohail was nominated for the Lloyds TSB Asian Jewel Awards 2004 for his contribution to the Media in the Media and Arts catagory. Sohail has also won The Asian Film Academy Award as Best Television Presenter in 1993, 1995 and 1996 for the BBC and Granada Television.
